It's here!!!

{Last year's race}

It's here!!! The weekend I run my first half marathon!!

I'm flying to Nashville this evening. I'm so excited to be staying at my friend Sarah's house for the weekend. I'm going to hang out in the gorgeous little town of Franklin tomorrow and catch up with some friends while Sarah is at work. Then, we're going to go pick up our race packets, hang out in Nash, grab dinner, and then get some good rest before the run. I have my race outfit picked out and I'm already a little anxious. This race is something I've been preparing for for 12 weeks now and I can't believe that on Sunday I'll be able to say that I'm a half-marathoner!

If you get the chance, please say a prayer for me for safe travels and fun memories. We can never have too many people praying for us, amen? And don't you worry, I'll have plenty of race day pictures to share with you once I'm back. :)

Cheers to 13.1 miles!!

Weekend on the lake.

{via.}

This is where you'll find me this weekend. I'll either be in my bikini out on the lake working on my tan or in sweat pants and an old Tri Delta t-shirt with a good book and coffee in hand. The girls and I are meeting up this evening at our favorite middle ground, Cat's lakehouse. We all live in different parts of Texas, but we're all about the same distance from Lake LBJ, which is perfect. Perfect for relaxing and catching up with friends, college roomates, sisters, some word that encompasses all three. :)

I hope you have a fun and relaxing weekend, wherever you are!

Big girl

Yesterday, one of my best firends in the entire world, Aubrey, bought herself the cutest little blue house in Corpus Christi. Seriously, this picture doesn't do it justice! It has a brick walkway, white trim, a rocking chair on the front porch, a pink rose bush, and a hot tub in the backyard. What up! This has been a 2 month process for Aubs and definitely more stressful for her than any of us thought it would be (thanks to realtors/mortage offices/other goofballs who will remain unnamed), but it's finally over. She's now a homeowner and I'm SO excited for her! Let the Pinterest projects begin!!

Congrats Aubrey!

Tut tut.

This is what the weather is looking like today, yikes! Our Monday morning sales meeting was pushed back to 9 a.m. because many were running late to work, myself included! Many of the local high schools have closed for the day because of flooding and there have even been a couple of tornado spottings in the more rural areas of South Texas.

It sounds like the rain is going to come and go all day, so you can imagine that I'll be day dreaming about my bed, a cup of coffee, and a good book while forcing myself to get some work done. But the blessing in disguise is that South Texas actually needs this rain pretty badly, so I'm praising the Lord for answered prayer while trying to dodge water puddles in heels. Hope the weather is a little sunnier for you, wherever you are!

Happy Monday!

Lately.

What's been going on lately around here? Oh let me tell you, there is always something going on with The Hintons! :)

Luke has been working his tail off, prepping for summer. For those of you that don't know, Luke works at Camp Zephyr, a Christian camp/retreat facility. They predominantly host summer camps for kids/youth in the summer and retreats for adults the rest of the year. The hubs has been spending his weekends working with retreat groups and interviewing summer staff for this upcoming summer. 30+ college kids come out each summer to help organize and run program camps for hundreds of kiddos and Zephyr is known for it's amazing summer staff. I'm pretty proud of Luke and the role he plays in choosing/coaching such an amazing staff!

{You know Luke's busy when his desk has an over-abundance of sticky note reminders, ha!}

What have I been up to? Well, working (what else is new?). I've also been trying to keep up with my half-marathon training. I'm not going to lie; it's been tough. I was super motivated the first 8 weeks, but I think I know I'm getting burnt out. I've tried to do a little cross-training to break up the runs, but with my crazy schedule, I've started to slack a little. NO GOOD! The race is 2 weeks from today and I'm just hoping I can hang in there long enough to make it through. This being my first half, I'm not stressing about time. I just want to finish. Please say a prayer for me! I need motivation!!

{These feet are running a half in 2 weeks...yikes!}

Oh, and we bought a new car! It's a long story, but here's the short and sweet: we needed to get out of a sticky situation. You see, about 13 months ago, I leased a 2011 Toyota Rav4. I loved it! But then Luke and I got married and moved out to the camp. This was no bueno for a girl in a 15K miles-per-year lease! We were pretty much shooting ourselves in the foot to let me continue putting an outrageous amount of miles on a leased vehicle. So, we traded it in at the same place we got the Rav4 and bought a 2012 Toyota Camry. They loved that we came back to them to fix this situation and gave us a great deal on the new car. Navigation, touch screen, blue tooth, sunroof, etc...I'm set! Who'd like to go for a ride? :)

{The new ride}

And this is what we've been up to! That and just enjoying this windy weekend. It's time for me to go run a 9-miler (yuck!). Wish me luck! :)

Easter Blessings

I hope you all had a blessed Easter weekend with family and friends celebrating the ressurection of our Lord! Luke and I had a great first married Easter. We enjoyed Luke being off of work by laying out at the pool, BBQing with family, shooting skeet, hanging out in town with friends, and most importantly, worshipping an amazing God who sent His Son to die on a cross so that we could have life everlasting. Can I get an amen? :) We've been having some gorgeous weather here in South Texas, which makes the weekends fly by so quickly! Here are a few pictures from our Easter weekend...

One last thing...If you haven't heard "Christ Is Risen" by Matt Maher, then I'd love for you to check out the music video here. We sang this song at church yesterday morning and I just love it!

Hey, It's Ok Thursday + Things I'm Loving Thursday

It's ok that I'm merging two posts, right? I mean, this week has been nuts, so I think it's only appropriate to share with you both the ups and downs. :)

Hey, it's ok...

1) That about 30% of my to-do list for the week has continued to roll over to the next day (and the next...and the next...). I mean, I can only do 10 things at a time, not 11. I'll get to these tasks eventually...

2) That I was supposed to run 5 miles yesterday according to my training plan, but I ran 4 and walked one. I was TIRED...throw me a bone!

3) That I've "scrunched" my hair almost every day this week instead of taking the time to straighten it. I mean, that extra 15 minutes of sleep can be invaluable, can I get an amen?

4) That I have only cooked dinner once and I have forgotten to pack my lunch for work every day this week (= eating fast food). Whoops! ;)

5) That I stress out, freak out, and over-analyze all the time every now and again because I know that I have a God that loves me unconditionally, even in the moments that I forget to fully depend on Him. He strength is made perfect in my weakness and I love this. God is so good.

Things I'm Loving...

1) My mascara = Maybelline Colossal Volume. This stuff is so legit! I have not found another mascara that truly volumizes the way this one does. I am never diappointed and can always depend on long, full lashes to be delivered with this guy.

2) Mine and Luke's new bedspread. I posted a not-so-great picture of it in my last post, but the lighting didn't do it justice. I bought this comforter set from Macy's way on sale this past weekend and after a few nights, I've decided it's my favorite comforter EVER! And I think Luke agrees since I wake up with about 1/4th of the blanket barely covering my body and the other 3/4ths wrapped around him, ha!

3) Colored skinny jeans. Yes, I'm jumping on the bandwagon. :) Being a short and somewhat curvy girl, I'm never really liked the concept of skinny jeans, but when I was in NYC, they were EVERYWHERE! And I loved all the colors...red, coral, royal blue, purple. I haven't stopped thinking about this new fashion trend and I think I'm about ready to break down and buy a pair. I'm really feeling these from American Eagle. How do you feel about skinny jeans?

4) Under Armour HeatGear Capri Tights. If you are a runner and haven't purchased a pair of these, I highly recommend them. Luke bought me a pair for my birthday and they are seriously my favorite thing to work out in. They sort of form to your body as you begin to sweat, offering you protection to the elements, releasing heat to keep you cool, and there is no chaffing whatsoever (a runner's nightmare). I'm in love!

5) My new Buckle bikini. I was not expecting at all to find a new swimsuit at Buckle. Before a couple of weeks ago, I don't think I had actually walked into that store since high school. But low and behold, as I walked past the front of the store, my eye caught something bight and summery. So, I walked in, tried it on, loved it, and purchased it! The best part, I had an OLD $10 off coupon to Buckle (again, probably from high school) and the sales lady accepted it. Waahoo!!

Have a blessed Thursday y'all! One more day until the weekend.
We can make it!!

XO, Sara
