Weekend Getaway: San Antonio!

This past weekend, Luke and I took off to San Antonio, TX for a quick, but relaxing weekend away from our crazy lives. This trip was also to celebrate our 1 year anniversary, which was last Monday. We stayed the weekend at the Hyatt Wild Oak Ranch, and it was awesome! We had a very nice room with all the amenities we could have needed or wanted.

On our first night there, Luke and I had dinner at the hotel and used the evening to unwind. The next morning, we took an hour and a half tour of the facility, which earned us $125 hotel credit, woohoo! After lunch, Luke took a fabulous 4-hour nap (If you know how crazy Luke's work life is in the summer, you know that this is HUGE for him. Poor guy needed some major rest!), while I got a hot-stone massage at the Windflower Spa. Both of us got to enjoy a little relaxation. :)

On Saturday night, Luke and I headed down to the Riverwalk to have dinner and celebrate our anniversary. We ate dinner at Cafe Ole (not to be confused with Casa Ole) and enjoyed the beautiful lights of the Riverwalk. After we got back to our hotel, we jumped into the jacuzzi for a few minutes before heading to bed. Again, so relaxing!

We slept in to the best of our ability on Sunday morning, but check-out was a 10 a.m. So, we packed up quick and headed over to Fiesta Texas! Luke's best friend, Jay, and his sweet wife, Morgan, got us into Fiesta Texas for FREE because Morgan works in their marketing/promotions department. We had an awesome time riding rollercoasters, eating funnel cake, and hanging out with some of our best friends. Thanks so, so much Jay and Morgan!!!

We're home now and ready for a new week. There has been so much going on in our lives, both personally and professionally, so we are incredibly grateful that God gave us the opportunity to get away and focus on each other for a few days. I can tell that this is going to set us up for a great week.

Hope you had a nice weekend, wherever you are!

1 year ago today...

I cannot believe that one year ago today, Luke and I became husband and wife. It was the most perfect June day. Looking through all of our wedding photos brought back a rush of emotion. I still remember the way I felt waking up that morning, knowing I would become his Mrs; it felt so right. I remember how beautifully sunny it was, but also how God cooled down the evening just enough to make it perfect outdoor wedding weather. I can still remember the sound of our 300+ guests filling the reception, laughing, hugging, dancing. There is something so magical about having every one of your favorite people in the same place at the same time. June 25, 2011 is a day I will never forget.

If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't change a thing. This first year of marriage has been such a blessing. God has taught Luke and I so much about each other and the commitment it takes to be in a Godly marriage. The sacrifice can be difficult and it is daily, but the blessings exceed the sacrifice. Luke and I are not perfect and our marriage will never be perfect, but we are learning daily to seek God's face knowing that He will guide us. I couldn't have asked for a better 1st year of marriage.

Tonight, we will eat year-old wedding cake and re-watch our wedding DVD. I may I will definitely cry and Luke will try to be tough, but I know it gets to him too. We've already exchanged gifts, but don't you worry. There will be an entire post focused on our traditional/modern gift-giving and cake eating a little later this week. :)

Happy Anniversary Luke. I love you more than life itself. There is nothing I love more than sharing the crazy life with you. 1 year down, 99 to go!

1st Anniversary Pics!

On June 3rd, our sweet friend Jade (who also photographed our engagements, my bridals, and our wedding!) took 1st anniversary pics of Luke and I out at our house at Camp Zephyr. I always blush when I first look at pictures Jade takes of Luke and I; we're always kissing about 50% of the time, ha! But Jade tells us to, so I guess she's cool with it. :)

Our anniversary isn't until the 25th, but we had to take these pics a little early because Luke's work is super busy right now. But don't worry, there will be a special post on the 25th that celebrates and looks back on that perfect day just a short year ago.

Here are a few of my favorites...
